Turtle Released Program

Seawalker – Sanur continuously introduce all Bali’s visitor with a little way of saving the universe ecosystem. Conservations are always added to the programs including this TURTLE RELEASE program. The program was introduced in a purpose of saving one of the old species which still exist now days.
Scientists data describe that these reptiles area already exist during YURA period which is about 145-208 years ago, the same period as the DINOSAURS predicted exist.

Turtle itself has a couple of strong front leg which enable this reptile migrate miles away. They can swim  to a distance of 3.000 kilometer within 58 days only, however they needs to raise up above the sea water, once upon a time to breathe.

Green Turtle (Chelonia Mydas)

Based on the scientists record that there are 7 species of turtle inhabit the ocean around the world and 6 of them exist in Indonesian’s ocean. Those 6 species inhabit the Indonesia ocean are : Penyu hijau/Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas), Penyu sisik/ hawksbill  (Eretmochelys imbricata), Penyu lekang/olive ridley turtle  (Lepidochelys olivacea), Penyu belimbing/leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), Penyu pipih/plat turtle (Natator depressus) and Penyu tempayan/loggerhead (Caretta caretta)

The turtle age could be between 120 years to 200 year with length to maximum 2.75 meters and weight between 50 kilograms to maximum 900 kilograms.
The biggest turtle species which can grow up to 2.75 meters with weight between 600-900 kilograms is penyu belimbing/leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), meanwhile the smallest species amongst others is Penyu lekang/olive ridley turtle  (Lepidochelys olivacea) with weight of maximum 50 kilograms.

Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys Imbricata)

Majority of turtle species which exist in Bali is Penyu lekang/olive ridley turtle where its egg laying period is from April to June each year. Meanwhile the other species which inhabit Bali ocean at smaller population is Penyu Hijau/green turtle, their egg laying period is in September each year. Normally the egg hatch period is 2 months or about 62 days after egg laying date.
Each mother turtle can produce between 80 to 120 eggs at a time.

It is our aim to contribute world saving progress because the Indonesian governments is also give a serious attention to these reptiles as well as other wildlife existence by issuing Government Regulations No 7, year 1999 and Government Constitution No 5, year 1990 regarding Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems.

Our record shown that since this program is introduced to the public in the year of 2012, we released approx 1000 turtles each year, where the highest released number of turtle is recorded in the year of 2014 which reach up to 1207 turtles.
